Gustobene Partners with Tonia’s Kitchen
MALVERN, Pennsylvania, September 9, 2002 -- Gustobene, an Internet based company offering Italian Gourmet Foods online, today announced a partnership with Tonia’s Kitchen. Tonia’s Kitchen is a radio show for food lovers that airs Monday thorugh Friday at 3:30 pm on KBLX 102.9 in San Francisco and WBTN - AM 1370 - Bennington, VT - program airs Saturday between 1-2 PM. Tonia's Kitchen has many unique features that appeal to cooks of all types and experiences.
Gustobene and Tonia’s Kitchen program will be working together during the month of September offering a history on Italian foods, simple to prepare recipes, and how to best prepare them. The program, which will begin the week of September 9, 2002, will discuss the different types of figs, where you can find them, how to pick them, clean them and prepare them. Listeners will learn that most fig trees produce two crops a year. The first crop is ripened in early June and July and is the result of the previous year’s twigs’ growth. This crop tends to produce larger figs that are very juicy but not as sweet as the second crop which ripens from late summer into the fall season. These figs are generally smaller, sweeter and more concentrated in flavor. Over the next several weeks, Tonia’s Radio Kitchen program will also focus on balsamic vinegar, extra virgin olive oil and saffron.
Tonia's Kitchen listeners will receive a 10% discount when shopping for Authentic Italian Gourmet Foods at www.Gustobene.com. For details visit Tonia’s Radio Kitchen website at www.toniaskitchen.com. Additionally, a 60-second audio commercial has been launched and will air on KBLX-San Francisco and across the Jazz Vari network for the month of September.
About Tonia’s Kitchen – Tonia King has always sought ways to incorporate her love of cooking and food into her broadcast career, as well as in helping others. In 1999, she created a weekly radio food/cooking show running the gamut from choosing the right olive oil, to properly extracting the sweetness from that boniest of all East Coast fishes, the American Shad. Her lifelong passion for food and love of broadcasting make for a perfect recipe, uniting perfectly in America’s newest food-and-cooking format radio program, "Tonia's Kitchen".
Tonia King began honing her culinary techniques as a little girl in Pennsylvania, helping her mother prepare dishes for a traditional (and hungry!) Italian family. Mama Nestico instilled a deep appreciation for proper ingredients and techniques in her young assistant. After graduation from Boston’s Berklee College of Music, Tonia took advantage of the Hub’s rich blend of ethnic cuisines and fresh food markets, experimenting with new dishes, and discovering an eclectic mix of international cooking. As time passed, it became a new tradition for Tonia to host dinners for an ever-growing (and ever-hungrier) circle of musicians, friends, family and colleagues.
